Information about member Arlene Sakmar...
As some of you know, longtime Guild member Advisor Arlene Sakmar and housemate Kati Whiteman are putting their lives back on track after a suffering a devastating house fire on the evening of Tuesday, Feb 2, 2010. They escaped unhurt with nothing more than what they wore, their cell phone and car. Kati and Arlene are staying in a furnished apartment for the time being but must start over as far as clothing, furniture and basic household items. The Guild will be collecting money and household items, to help Arlene and Kati through this difficult time.

Initial responses of money and clothing are great but we’ll also take a more detailed look at how the Guild may be able to provide support down the road when Katie and Arlene decide upon where they’ll make their permanent home. Thank you in advance for whatever you may contribute to help our friends during this very stressful time.

Dues Notice:  Thank you to all who paid their dues by the  January 31,2010 deadline.  You can still pay your if you haven't done it yet, but check the amount to pay after the January deadline.

Since 1940, hand weavers around Pittsburgh have joined company in the Weavers Guild of Pittsburgh to develop their knowledge and technical skills and to pass that information on to others.
