Let Take a Look Back to our Fall 2006 Activities !

Our August 26th Intro to Weaving Workshop...

The August meeting was a workshop called "Introduction to Weaving, Using Portable Looms."  The workshop was open to all members, but was especially designed for people interested in learning about weaving, but do not have any waving equipment.

The workshop was held in Arlene Sakmar's Studio where Arlene had prepared cardboard box looms and provided all the supplies for the eleven people who attended the workshop.  The day was divided into instruction and demonstrations, followed by time to work individually.  At the end of the day, participants took their looms home to finish their weavings.

Notes from our September Meeting...

The participants of the August workshop brought in their projects.  Arlene showed some finishing techniques and discussed uses of or displaying the items created on the portable looms.  The Ewe Guys spinning group met with us and their company was once again part of an enjoyable evening.

Three of the workshop participants joined the guild and we also have a fourth new guild member who is also a regular in the Ewe Guys.  Join me in welcoming Anne Windish, Heather Collins, Debbie Foust and Carmen Osborne to the Weavers Guild of Pittsburgh.

A Big Thank You! goes to Arlene for coordinating, teaching and providing the materials for this interesting workshop.

December Meeting....
Holiday Gathering, Friday, December 1st

Our Holiday gathering will be at the 6th Presbyterian Church in Squirrel Hill.  We meet in a lovely room that will be perfect for this type of a social time.

Bring a treat to share and get ready to celebrate the end of the year with a holiday gathering the fiber way.  This year we ask that you bring a handmade ornament that incorporates fiber in the piece.  We will use our usual method of exchanging gifts.
